Opiate of the Masses - Saturday 2/21/2009

Hmm. Funny that I've been letting my suspicions show about TV lately and then I used it as the opiate that it is.

My friend Diver started me calling negative thoughts "neglies" way back in high school.

This morning the neglies, they were tap dancing on my head. It was 1 a.m. and one was clicking out, "You haven't accomplished what you'd hoped you would by now," while another ticked out a counterpoint of "you are always busy, but you are just spinning your wheels."

Tappity tappity. No sleeping through that.

I got up and splashed cold water on my face, drank a glass of it, and climbed back into bed. The dancing didn't stop, though.

So Hydra suggested we watch some TV. I probably would have gone for whatever was on Turner Classic Movies, but come to think of it a 30s musical probably wasn't the best idea. We watched a couple of episodes of Inside the Actors Studio. Nice of him to get up with me, huh?

Thanks, James.

Home Appreciation Day - Saturday 3/3/2007

I was so exhausted because of work stress and lack of good sleep that by Friday night I couldn't be roused to join Hydra at the hoot (essentially an acoustic music jam). I left work early, drove home, ran errands and was in bed by 4:30. I didn't get out until 8pm when hunger drove me to the kitchen. Back to bed by 9:30. Slept until 6:30 Saturday morning.

Another 2 hour nap Saturday afternoon. Very unusual for me.

I need to do things differently this week, and not let myself get so tired again. It's dangerous. I start losing things and making stupid mistakes.

On Saturday I appreciated my darkened bedroom, and the view outside the window, and this lovely marble vase Braveheart gave me.

Mama Didn't Raise No Princesses - Saturday 1/20/2007

Well, I probably shouldn't speak for my sister, or for my brothers for that matter. But I, for one, am no princess.

I got up in the dark of the morning to get a glass of water--humidity has been so low here for so long--and when I came back to bed, I discovered I'd been sleeping on this eraser.

It was undeniable. It was right on top of the feather bed, which is on top of the foam, which is on top of the mattress. And it was still warm.

Ahem.

I would like to thank the kernal of corn for stepping in for the pea on such short notice. I couldn't find a pea anywhere around the house.

Not that that apparently means much.

For all I know, there could be dozens under the mattress.
