Oatmeal and Peanut Butter - Friday 11/5/2008

Does anyone else have peanut butter with their oatmeal? In my family, we used to have it on bread with oatmeal, and then realized we were kind of maxing out on the grains.

Braveheart tried it with me, but she didn't like it. She's more into dried fruit and honey and stuff.

How about you? Any odd food combinations?

Since you asked -- no, I haven't tried the pb and oatmeal thing, but I do like pb on crackers, on a variety of fruit, and on my finger. I have oats w/ soymilk, blueberries, almonds, and cottage cheese (the last one isn't my favorite, but adds a bit of protein).

Almond butter + oatmeal. It is divine.

You have the pb on the side? Much better if you tuck globs of it under the hot oatmeal. By the time you get the milk on and begin to eat it the pb is all melty. Yum! (I'm going to try the almond butter) k

The almond butter does sound good, doesn't it? (If we were close enough geographically, Kitty, we could share a jar!)

I'll try the pb in the bowl again, but I think I'm more of a fan of keeping it separate so it doesn't get all mixed in. Contrasts.

Back where I (and you) come from if you were out of peanut butter you just couldn't have oatmeal. Come to think of it Grandma's combo of noodles on top of mashed potatoes was kind of weird too - but delicious.
